This vantage point is situated on the intrusive Jambila-diabase dyke, which forms [...illegible...] known as the Devil's Knuckles [...illegible...] observed across [...illegible...]. The mountains and hills to the north, east and south of the valley consist of 3500 million year old greenstones of the Barberton Sequence. These greenstones [...illegible...] certainly on metamorphosed and deformed volcanic and sedimentary rocks. Numerous gold deposits have been discovered and mined in these rocks since 1884. To the north, beyond the greenstones, is the intrusive Nelspruit granite. The De Kaap Valley Floor consists of intrusive granite, called the Kaap Valley tonalite. This is overlain in the west by shallow-dipping sedimentary rocks of the Transvaal Sequence, which form the western escarpment above the valley.
