FLOWER STREET VILLA
Colonel Robert Jacob Gordon, last VOC commander of the garrison at the Castle, lived here from 1780 to 1795. He was an acclaimed geographer, artist and botanist.
[Simon van der Stel Foundation notes: Two hundred years ago this manor house was the heart of the large estate “Schoonder Zicht”, meaning “Clear View”, and was listed as one of the six most conspicuous homesteads on the slopes of Table Mountain, c.1785. This plaque was unveiled in October 2007.]
